The "Bloco da Lama" is one of the most magnificent events in Brazil. It's a unique Party and Cultural Experience during Carnival Time.
Everyone is invited, and everyone is welcome to be part of the Bloco da Lama in Parati.
WHAT IS IT?:
..."Clad in swimwear and rags, slathered in mud, adorned with branches and bones and crying "ooga ooga ha ha", over 3,000 people parade through the streets of Paraty's colonial district every Carnival Saturday afternoon."
WHEN?:
SATURDAY 5TH OF MARCH 2011.
WHERE?:
In Jabaquara Beach in Paraty.

thanks for the recommendations Teresa, Bloco da Lama 2011 in Paraty it's suppossed to be one of the best Carnival Celebrations in Brazil. Also the Carnamar 2011 in Parati is very unique and authentic. I hope me and my friends can be there this year Viviane

there is a lot of information on the web for Bloco da Lama, Carnival in Paraty and also the unique event in Paraty called "Carnamar", this is a Sea-Boat-Carnival in Paraty Bay, it's beautiful. here's some information I've found including tips on accommodation, discounts, pictures, etc
